The Sand Witch

We have now reached Langkawi and for the first time since we started this little adventure, we have really been able to relax. Langkawi is an Island right at the north of Malaysia's western coast and is covered in long white sandy beaches and surrounded by clear water. Today has been the first day that we have literally accomplished nothing. We are normally busy busy little bees, whether its sight-seeing, climbing mountains, arguing over footware or just organising the travel and accommodation for our next destination. We are just always busy.

Today we just sat down on the beach with our books in hand and spent the day slowly cooking under the sun in the style of rotisserie chickens. Occasionally, when we could no longer stand the heat, we would go for a quick paddle in the sea then settle back down for another chapter or two. A word of warning to anybody that ever travels to a beach with Rory alone - Do not allow him to rub suntan lotion into your back, I'm losing at least 75% of my epidermis each day. Where as I take every precaution to remove the sand from my hands before gently applying the cream, Rory practically ensures every millimetre of his palm is covered in sand particles then with the diligence of an electric sander rubs your back with enough force to extract all the air from your lungs. Each time I feel the need to reapply, I thoroughly asses the long and short term, pros and cons of malignant sunburn against the ordeal that Rory will undoubtedly put me through.
